Long Lost Craftygals Return

by Christy

You know what they say about the best-laid plans… well we had a doozey of a summer issue planned that just never got out. Some day on TV Land you’ll see an ad for the Long Lost Issue of Craftygal! Well maybe that’s not quite true, but you’re with me, right?

Regardless, thanks for hanging in there over the summer while we took a breather. Sorry we dropped off the radar screen without notice, but we’re back now and hope our faithful readers are ready for a new, healthy dose of craftiness because we are comin’ at you with both glue guns a’blazin’. We’re down one craftygal though. Taryn has vacated Rochester in pursuit of a master’s degree, and along with that decision she’ll be cutting back her contributions to Craftygal. Hopefully she’ll pop back in from time-to-time with a guest article, but in the meantime we will miss her and wish her traveling mercies for the road ahead. A moment of silence folks… Now, chin up, and on to the goods!

This month you’ll find a familiar face has invaded the fridge. Faith Heinauer has slipped us a few recipes from her new brunch cookbook, if you’re familiar with Faith’s recipes, then you know your brunch crew is in for a treat. Christy knit up a plush baby blanket of her own design at the table. Charles sat the craftygals down on the porch for a change and asked them the hard questions. At the stump this month you’ll find guest writer Carrie Melago reflecting on why she learned to crochet, and how it connects her to others. And finally, Jan’s own crafty Mum logged a travel piece for us when she visited a dance for universal peace.

For now, Jan and I plan to carry on the Craftygal tradition, all the time humming that great ‘80s tune, “Just the two of us, we can make it if we try…” To even out the playing field we are going to post a new issue quarterly, and may stop by in the off months with a surprise article or two in the fridge or table columns. So, enjoy the fall issue and craft like mad for the holidays are upon us!

Lunchtime Poll:

What were the Craftygals really up to during the summer hiatus?

1. Working on Craftygal: The Movie.

2. Entered witness protection program when Martha Stewart threatened to bring us down with her.

3. Sold our souls to Ready Made magazine.

4. Finally got that knitting sabbatical approved.

5. Jan was holed up during the Benton Street stand off.
