A Tempo

by Taryn

November is a strange time of the year. The pace of life seems to fall at either of the extremes, but never in between. It can be a time of rest and thankfulness, as we settle into a new season–a time to review nearly a year’s worth of accomplishments and be grateful for one’s blessings… Or it can be a frantic and trying time, as we visit family and attempt to get a head start on Christmas preparations. (Crafty folks may feel even more of this kind of pressure than others do!)

For those of us in upstate New York and the surrounding region, November also means the return of bitter cold and snow, donning scarves and mittens, scraping cars and shoveling sidewalks, and enjoying a cup of hot cocoa once you’ve made it back inside. I, of course, encourage you to opt for the more leisurely pace and curl up with a good book or your needlework, but the choice is yours.

So wherever you find yourself, and in whatever state of mind, we here at craftygal hope you enjoy this month’s issue. You’ll find Jan sitting on the stump, searching Germany, and within, for her roots–as well as logging the travels of the craftygal gang, as we test out craft night at our favorite watering hole. Those who suspect craftygal may be elitist should check out Amie’s boy crafts on the table; whereas those with a taste for a cream-cheesy pumpkin roll should follow Christy to the fridge. Or you can join me on the porch for some great conversation with hat-maker, Trudy Feikert. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised, no matter what pace you’re choosing these days.
