A
Nifty Thrifty Start to Summer
by Jan
Ahhh, Summer!
Once you turn the calendar page to June and the weather turns more
reliably nice, the days magically fill up with things to do: concerts,
festivals, vacations, barbecues, weddings, and trips to the beach.
Properly preparing for all the season's activities can really take
a bite out of the ol' bank account, what with tickets and entrance
fees, dishes to pass, gifts to buy, and new outfits to wear. What
to do?
Well, don't
panic and take on a second job yet! This month's issue of craftygal
is jam-packed with ideas for our frugal friends. If it's wedding
or party decor that you're looking for, join Christy at the Table
to see how she recycled some dried roses she'd had kicking around
into a beautiful topiary. Looking for a new outfit on the cheap?
Our latest Travels lead us out to the local thrift and consignment
shops in an attempt to put more bang in our wardrobes for less bucks.
Taryn's at the Stump with some thoughts about how her moms
concern over backward masking once kept her record budget in check.
And, if you're tired of forking over your music-buying dollars to
giant corporations, you'll be glad to meet Renee Bessette, Amie's
guest on the Porch. This music-loving gal has started her own indie
record label, which promotes a variety of intriguing artists. Special
guest author Faith Heinauer's in the craftygal Fridge this month,
putting together a simple summer supper. If you get the whole gang
to pitch in on this tasty menu, you'll have an incredible meal for
much less than you'd spend eating out.
So don't let
your lack of cash tap out your fun this summer. We'll look for you
on the garage sale circuit, whether it's our house or yours, and
in the meantime, enjoy this issue!
