What's the Story?

by Jan

Our stories are the threads that sew our lives together. The crafty gals of yore stitched stories at quilting bees; crafty gals today spin tales at the stitch ‘n’ bitch. No matter the era, it’s the sharing of stories that patch together friendships and families. "You won’t believe what happened to me!" is woven into "That’s just like the time…" which is fused with "Remember when…?" until the scraps of each individual become a favorite blanket for the whole gang.

For the Craftygal crew, sharing stories with you, our dear readers, has expanded our crafty little community far beyond our expectations. We invite you to share more of your stories--we’d love to read your personal essays, craft project triumphs, and recipes. Let’s keep working on this crazy quilt of a site together! Write us at gals@craftygal.com with your ideas.

And have we got a story for you this month! Taryn invited storyteller, Almeta Whitis, to tell her tale on the Porch. You’ll also find Taryn resting on the Stump, inhaling fresh air and exhaling the story of her experiment with smoking. Intrepid traveler, Christy, hit the road to chase down an Irish Jam Session that proved to be as elusive as a pot of gold. Christy has also woven a curtain of ribbons over at the Table. And you’ll find me at the Fridge, brewing up a pot of folktale-inspired stone soup.

Whatever your story is (and we can’t wait to hear it), we’re wishing you the same conclusion: "and they lived happily ever after." The end.
